"The sound quality is of a high standard, the stage is a decent size, the balconies and different levels are perfect for band watching" - National Union of Students
In November 2001, AMG opened its third "Academy" branded venue in Bristol. Carling Academy Bristol has fast become an essential part of the local nightlife, bringing its unique blend of quality live music and top UK club nights to the West Country.
A key date on the UK's touring circuit the Carling Academy Bristol has seen a host of internationally acclaimed artists take the stage in its exciting history. From Basement Jaxx and The Roots, The Charlatans to DJ Shadow; the venue has proved itself to artists and audiences alike as the place to experience live music in Bristol.
A wide variety of club nights have been successfully introduced, which include weekly events from Bristol's most popular student night ComePlay every Thursday during term time and Ramshackle every Friday. Saturday club residencies vary each month, with regular, specialist events courtesy of leftfield and breakbeat supremos, BlowPop, as well as hard dance nights through to house classics from dance promoters Scream. Drum & Bass nights come from Revolution, One Nation, Liquidiser, Full Cycle and Drive By.
AMG is very proud of the part the venue has already played in enriching the vibrant cultural life of the city, building on the unrivalled success of its sister Academy venues.
In 2005, the venue supported the Tsunami Crisis by hosting an exclusive charity gig by Bristol's legendary musicians Massive Attack and Portishead, alongside Robert Plant and The Coral.
Moving forward, the eclectic diary of events Carling Academy Bristol offers literally hundreds of gig and club nights every year and the management focus strongly on offering audiences the highest quality artists with the best in-house sound, lighting and service in the business.
